Beneath modern Naples lies an ancient harbour, once the vibrant heart of Neapolis, now hidden beneath centuries of urban development. This project proposes an underground excavation and exhibition centre, designed to reconnect Naples with its archaeological foundations. By uncovering these historical layers, the centre aims to enhance public awareness and integrate the city's rich past with contemporary urban life.

The design incorporates carefully planned underground walkways and immersive lighting to guide visitors through Naples’ historical stratifications. Curated displays will highlight significant archaeological discoveries, providing an engaging and reflective experience. These spatial interventions transform the underground environment into an accessible and compelling exploration of history.

More than a museum, the centre functions as a communal space for reflection, dialogue, and learning. It strengthens the city's cultural identity by seamlessly integrating archaeological heritage into daily life, fostering deeper connections between Naples’ past and present.
